Feeling Old.....

Today is my oldest son Joseph's 20th birthday. 20 years. I've been a mom for 2 decades.

I don't even know what to write about this. I've been struggling with accepting my age for the last year or so. How did I get to be 45? Mentally, I don't feel much older than 30. How can my son be almost legally an adult? He was just a little boy the other day.

I don't want to have any more kids, but I miss having babies. I see the cutest toys and clothes in the stores and I wish I had someone to buy them for. And DON'T YOU DARE say anything about GRANDCHILDREN!!! I'm having a hard enough time with 3 of my 4 kids being teen+.

I am proud and pleased to be Joseph's mother. He is a good person. He has a big heart. And he is incredibly talented. I pray with all my heart that he will have another fantastic 20 years.

Happy Birthday Joseph!

Not birthday twins - Joseph is a day ahead of me.

I'm older than you, but I can't wait until my 10 year old is 20! In the sense that I will know who he's turning out to be - I'm not wishing away all the precious days between now and then! I'll be 57 at that point - and supremely happy that I got there. There have been times in the recent past when making it to 50 seemed like a stretch, but things are looking up in so many ways now. My secret? Look to the future, but live TODAY!

Look at it this way - you're a freshman to my senior!

Let me say this in the kindest possible way: enough with the age stuff. One thing we cannot stop is the calendar. I'm 17 years your senior and I love it. You will, too, when you get here. Just relax.

At 68 I would love another twenty years. That is provided I have half-way decent health. At 45 you are still a young pup. Enjoy!

Congratulations to Joseph on turning twenty.

Sayre - I like the analogy "you're freshman to my senior". I still sometimes can't believe we're as old as we are!

JustDave - For being 17 years older than I am, you are looking good! (wink) I get what you're saying, really. It was just a milestone.

BrotherDave - I love it when you call me a "young pup"! Flattery will get you everywhere!

Poppy - Thank you!!
