A Saturday Quickie.....

This morning I was awakened at 8 AM by a phone call from my ex-husband. He wasn't sure what time First Communion was today (even though I have told him multiple times), where we should sit (this is his fourth child to make First Communion in the same church with the same system), or what exactly to wear. After I answered all his stupid questions with, I feel, a great degree of patience for 8 in the morning on a Saturday, I lay there thinking about THIS post I saw over at E.Craig's a while back.

THE MOM TEST:

I was out walking with my 4 year old daughter. She picked up something off the ground and started to put it in her mouth. I took the item away from her and I asked her not to do that.

'Why?' my daughter asked. 'Because it's been on the ground, you don't know where it's been, it's dirty, and probably has germs,' I replied. At this point, my daughter looked at me with total admiration and asked, 'Momma, how do you know all this stuff. You are so smart.' I was thinking quickly, 'All moms know this stuff. It's on the Mom Test. You have to know it, or they don't let you be a Mom.'

We walked along in silence for 2 or 3 minutes, but she was evidently pondering this new information. 'Oh...I get it!' she beamed, 'So if you don't pass the test you have to be the dad.'

''Exactly,' I replied back with a big smile on my face.

When you're finished laughing, send this to a Mom.

I would like to add that there are definitely exceptions to this rule: E.Craig, Brother Dave, Sushiboy, and my own significant other, Truckindude, come to mind.

****OOPS! I knew I would forget a dad or two. Just Dave is also an exception!

I'm off to do more for First Communion tonight.
More later. Happy Saturday!
J.

Saturday quickies have long been a favorite of mine. And, as regards the test. I thank you for the exemption. Moms know all about health and hygiene. Dads know all about sports and how to kick the crap out of a bully. It evens out.

I just realized that the wrong Dave got the exemption. Phooey.

Congrats on the First Communion! That's such a special time. :)
Well, J...that's why your ex is probably your ex. He just doesn't have a clue in life, does he?

Um. I believe that a 1st communion is good, even if I'm not Catholic.

I know I'm not Catholic, but someday the Catholic's will see the truth and become Lutheran.

Gotcha!

Ps: Yes, I know there are comebacks for the "gotcha" comment.
But, I did get cha.

Finally, once in my life I'm given an exception.

Ahh. Life is good. I'm an exception, and I'm liking my exception.

smile!
