The Beginning of the End.....

Yes, folks, it's that time again: Back to School time. Today was our Staff Retreat, which I thought would be stupid. but in reality wasn't too bad. It was fun to see everyone. One of my favorite teachers announced her pregnancy, which is terrific. And there was lots of silliness and laughter. So, it was okay, for forced togetherness.

The rest of this week is going to be busy, busy, busy. I have two "free" days left, but I will probably be over in my classroom setting up both days. Thursday and Friday are official work days. And then next Monday is our first "student day".

So, all the fun I've had blogging and commenting is going to cut back. I will only be able to check my e-mail in the mornings before school, and then I will have to make my blog rounds sometime in the evening. (sigh) I'm going to miss being able to browse and comment whenever I want.

Next week, my younger boys start on Tuesday, and then the real craziness sets in. That's when I spend every evening helping with homework, getting showers done, and getting people in bed by a reasonable hour. For the first few weeks, I will go to bed when they do. I have gotten soft over the summer. I'm not used to being as active as I will have to be at school, and I will be pooped.

Anyway, I just wanted to warn you all, in case I'm not around as much.
See you Labor Day weekend! (just kidding)

J.

This is the first year in a long time our public schools here in Texas haven't started in early August. The kids actually get to have summer until August 27. Granted, the high school band & football kids are already hard at work for 2-a-days & 3-a-days, but they don't have to sit in a chair for 7 hours straight until the end of the month ;o)

Wow
I still can't get over school starting in August. I know that means the kids and you get out that much earlier in June, but I would still like the way we do it around these parts where Labor Day is the end of summer and not some arbitrary day in the middle of the month.

Either way, GOOD LUCK!

I wish I would have been a better student and then I could have been a teacher. Summers off would be killer! I'd spend every Summer in Jersey.

Our city schools started the "school year" yesterday. I thought of you right away when the big yellow school bus rolled down my street. Hope it's a good school year for you, J.

Egads. Already?! I know that Doug reports back to work on the 16th. ACK! It was hardly even a summer!

I'm going to miss all the time in the world to read and comment on blogs too; I think that's the part of summer's being over that I like least.

I used to hate going back to school and having to go to bed early.

Sure does seem like the summer has gone by pretty fast huh?

And, if I don't see you around my blog for more than a day I will take it personally. I don't care how busy you are. ;-)

Okay, not really. haha

Good luck this year with school.

The best thing about being a teacher is summer. The worst thing about being a teacher is August.

The start of school is always hard. I think that is the worst thing about being off-- going back!

Feel for ya sister. Our teachers don't report for two more weeks. New teachers have a full week of training next week. New Bilingual teachers have 4 days this week in addition to next week's training. Kids not for another 3 weeks. Whew!!

Take deep breaths and remember that YOU make a difference and are needed in the school. Thanks for serving the population that you do!!

Good luck with the new preps you have! I don't know why they are forcing us to go to convocation. We are year round at my "school". Who are they kidding!
