Movie Meme.....

I've been tagged by Dazd to play a movie meme, and it's a fun one! Here are the rules:

Pick out 10 favorite movies, then look them up in the Internet Movie Data Base. In the overview at the top of each movie's page, there are "Plot Keywords" (usually 5 of them). Take the first five and post them. Then the rest of us get to play movie buff and see if we can guess them. Here are my movies. I'll highlight them in bold as they are correctly guessed. Keep in mind that I like "chick flicks", comedies, and adventure movies.

Have fun!

1. Fall From Height / Typewriter / Self Sacrifice / Bus Stop / Guitar - Stranger Than Fiction - RWA!

2. Piano / Growing Up / Emotional Depression / Young Girl / Old Man - Little Women - Finding Heart!

3. Alabama / Slapstick / Surprise After End Credits / Wheelchair / Wheelchair Basketball -Talledega Nights - RWA!

4. Train / Male Female Relationship / Mistletoe / Love / Sofa

5. Male Bonding / Blindfold / Female Bonding / Pirate /Gym - Dodgeball - RWA!

6. Opposites Attract / Love Hate / Friend / Posing Nude / Male Female Relationship - As Good As It Gets - Dazd!

And I tag:

So, start guessing......

Am I Happy Being Single? Hmmmmm.....

"You Are Pretty Happy Being Single"

You Are Pretty Happy Being Single
You have a full, fun life. And you definitely don't need love to be content.Of course, being single can get you down a little. Especially when you've been single for a while. But you know how to be patient and wait for the right person. Your life is too good to settle for anything!

Am I happy being single? That is an interesting question. And that last line: your life is too good to settle for anything - got me to thinking about a song that I like called, coincidentally, "Settlin'". Here are the lyrics:

Fifteen minutes left to throw me together
For mister right now, not mister forever
Don't know why I even try when I know how it ends
Looking like another "maybe we could be friends"
I've been leaving it up to fate
It's my life so it's mine to make

I ain't settling for just getting by
I've had enough so so for the rest of my life
Tired of shooting too low, so raise the bar high
Just enough ain't enough this time
I ain't settling for anything less than everything, yeah

With some good red wine and my brand new shoes
Gonna dance a blue streak around my living room
Take a chance on love and try how it feels
With my heart wide open now you know I will
Find what it means to be the girl
Change her mind and change her world

I ain't settling for just getting by
I've had enough so so for the rest of my life
Tired of shooting too low, so raise the bar high
Just enough ain't enough this time
I ain't settling for anything less than everything

I ain't settling for just getting by
I've had enough so so for the rest of my life
Tired of shooting too low, so raise the bar high
Just enough ain't enough this time

I ain't settling for just getting by
I've had enough so so for the rest of my life
Tired of shooting too low, so raise the bar high
I ain't settling no, no, no, no, no, no

So raise the bar high

Here's another one of my favorite groups, Sugarland, doing the song:

I am tired of "settling". I would rather be on my own and happy, than with someone just to be "with" someone. There is a certain kind of man I still dream about, hope for, pray about. Whether he and I will get together remains to be seen, if he even exists. But that's who I am waiting for. It's all or nothing this time.

************************************************************

I'm going to do like Jay does and put several different topics into one post.

Today is my last day of "vacation". I nowhere near got everything done that I wanted done, but I did do a lot. We ordered Rachael's class ring last night. It will be expensive, but we only had to put a $50 deposit on it, so luckily I have time to figure out how I'm going to pay for the rest of it. It will be so pretty. I'm glad she got the one she really wanted.

I've managed to do something to my neck. I was in a car accident about 3 years ago, with left me with a concussion, stitches in my forehead, and a stiff neck/upper back. And my neck has never really been the same since. I've had several people tell me I should go see a chiropractor. I probably should. Anyway, Tylenol and a heating pad are doing it for now.

Tonight is Aaron's very first friend sleepover. He was so excited last night he could hardly sleep. He has a bear named Rick (I don't know why his name is Rick. It just is) and he was telling "Rick" last night in bed what a great day today was going to be. Last night "Rick" needed a glass of milk before bed - luckily an empty cup satified him. Today "Rick" wanted toaster strudels for breakfast. I hope "Rick" doesn't start wanting allowance!`

I didn't get to sleep in one day this week! That doesn't seem fair, does it?

I watched "Man of the Year" and "Talledega Nights" this week. "Man of the Year" wasn't bad, but I'm glad I didn't pay for it. "Talledega Nights" cracks me up. It's so dumb it's funny. And if you've ever known anyone who was into Nascar, they nailed it right on the head. I used to date a guy who had a whole wall dedicated to Dale Earnhart.

According to my stat counter, I had 44 hits yesterday! Pretty cool.

Daniel will be "multi-sporting" this weekend. He has a soccer game tonight, and his first track meet on Sunday. Rachael and Joseph are buried under rehearsals as the play "Miss Saigon" opens next week. I let Rachael get her hair darkened for the play, she is after all supposed to be Aisian, but it's not too dark. Joseph goes for a military haircut tomorrow, as he is supposed to be "Vietcong". He's getting what's called a "high and tight".

Well, I guess that's it for now. Have a great weekend all!

Dreamgirls, Pinewood Derby, and School.....

What a busy weekend! We have been going, going, going, but it has all been good. Friday night was a mixed bag: Daniel, my 12 yr.old, went to the Jr. High Dance, and Joseph, my oldest, went to a friend's birthday party (long story with that one), but Aaron, Rachael, and I met Baron and his girls for dinner at the Chinese Buffet nearby. We had a great time. It is always so good to see the kids get along so well.

Saturday, Aaron's dad (my evil ex) came down from Indianapolis at my request, to help Aaron build his Pinewood Derby car. Daniel went to his friend Austin's, Joseph went to Taylor's, and so Baron and I had the chance to meet for a movie. I chose "Dreamgirls", and like my blog friend Captain Corky, although I have never been too impressed with Beyonce for any reason, I was reluctantly impressed. The whole movie was great! Eddie Murphy, I read somewhere, did his own singing for the movie, and all the music was good. A couple of times either Baron or I sighed when they launched into yet another ballad, but all in all, a terrific movie. I would love to get the sound track!

Today after church was the Cub Scouts' Pinewood Derby. Aaron, as I mentioned, built his car with his dad. I arranged for them to use my parents' house to have a place to saw, sand, paint, and decorate his car, and I must say they did a terrific job. Aaron didn't win, but he DID win a couple of heats, which was enough to keep him happy. And he got a patch and a ribbon. Here he is with his car, and with his brothers and sister (who are clearly SOOOO happy to be there) waiting for the big event to start.

Third, several of you commented or e-mailed me about my school situation. Thanks.
Things are still a little hectic, but Thursday and Friday were a little better. The boy who has been really out-of-control is having a terrible homelife right now in addition to his own emotional issues, and so will probably be transferring to a different school where they have social services and a psychiatrist on site. They will be better able to support the whole family.
All my new boys are settling in. Ironically, my "old" students are the ones who are having the most issues. But the fallout from the confrontation with the coworker wasn't too bad, and my principal got some firsthand experience with the boy I mentioned above, which is why she approved the transfer to the other school.
These pictures are of my students making rainsticks a couple of weeks ago with the Occupational Therapist. It was so much fun, and they loved banging nails into the tubes (and yes, there was one adult per student so the hammer-and-nail thing was very controlled).

Have a great week.
