Fun Monday

Yay...it's time again for Fun Monday! This week is being hosted by the lovely Karisma. Here is her assignment:

"We all know our kids and pets are often a great source of amusement to us at the best of times. I want to hear a funny, silly or just downright cute story about your pets or your children. Have they ever done anything to totally embarrass you in public? Have they done something you thought was outrageous at the time, only to laugh at it later? Have they outwitted you in some devious way, only the way a kid can? Come on, out with it!"

Well, as we all know, I have 4 children and they have embarrassed me in public, done lots of outrageous things, and outwitted me many times. But, I have decided this time to focus on my wonderful kitten, Moustache.

Rachael and I picked Moustache out from a local pet store. We had originally fallen in love with a fluffy brown kitten, but by the time I decided that yes, we were going to get another cat and we went back to the pet store, the brown cat was gone. But this lovable little black and white cat, who slightly resembles Hitler with his black fur under his nose, was right up there, trying to get our attention, begging for petting, checking US out. We knew right then that he was different.

Have you seen the movie Marley and Me? Toward the end, Owen Wilson takes Marley to the vet and she says that most dogs with the problems Marley has do not make it very long. And he says something like, "Well, those statistics are probably based on regular dogs. Marley is not your typical dog."

This is how I feel about Moustache. I have never had a cat like him before. He talks to me....he really does. He has a very distinct personality. If he wants something to eat or drink, I find him waiting for me at the end of the bed in the morning when I wake up. He will patiently follow me to the bathroom and give me time to do what I need to do, but then he lets me know that he has waited long enough. If I fail to do as I am clearly expected to do (fill his dish with food and change his water), then he will pounce on my feet and generally get in my way until I give up and do my job.

He loves to lay on my bed. He is so playful, I tied an old shoestring to my fan pull for him to play with. Although it has been there for months, he still crouches down behind the blankets, watches very closely, and then......ATTACKS the string! After batting, grabbing, and attempting to chew it for awhile, then he was lay contently under it, with the string between his paws, as if to say, "This is MY string. Mine. I have conquered." He also loves Steven's boot strings. Moustache can be nowhere in sight, but if Steven bends down to put his boots on, amazingly Moustache will appear, just in time to bat at them and generally make it tough to tie his boots. He has the same radar for when I am making a bed - lift a sheet or a blanket over a mattress and instantly Moustache will be under it.

Moustache will play with ANYTHING that can be scooted. Lately he has taken to carrying an old soccer sock around. He will bring his possessions to one of two locations. I will either find them by his water dish or he will bring them to me and leave his offerings on my bed. It is nothing for me to wake up and find one or two socks and maybe a Nerf dart at the end of my bed.

This is my cat. And I love him.

Have a great Monday.

Awwwwww! He is very cute! I just love his little Hitler moustache, how funny! He sounds a bit like my puppy with his bossy ways too! Must have been something in the air when they were born! Thanx for joining in. I really must get around to writing my post too, I have been running around like a mad chook all day running errands. Hugs xxxx

Cats rule!!!! I love cats. Moustache, first...that's a great name, and secondly...he's adorable. I love it when our kitties talk to us too.

HAPPY FUN MONDAY.

My cat, Fluffawuffagus, talks to me as well. He is particularly chatty in the AM when he wants some munchies for the morning. I hear him right now, behind my chair, meowing incessantly.

Yeah, yeah...... I'm coming.

Awwww.... the moustache is so cute!

I have four cats right now and they're all wonderful in their own way - but French drives me nuts. In the mornings, he comes in when DM opens the door. Then he comes upstairs and wakes me up to let him out (he hates being inside). Argh!!!

we had a cat that talked, too. It sounded like "Now" when she wanted outside. When she was hungry she had a special way of telling us.

We have our daughters cat right "now" ... and she talks very loud.

He sounds like a great cat.

My cat died this past Fall at the age of 15 - he used to play "fetch" just like a dog. Cats are great!!

What a character! I can see why he's so amusing to have around. And, I'm glad you didn't name him Hitler even though they have the same facial hair!
