Day 18 - Sunday Stuff

I had high hopes for today's post. I got up this morning with all kinds of ideas. But now it's after lunch and I'm getting sleepy. So, who knows? This is going to be random:

Things are going well with my friend Steven. He drives a semi-truck for a living and his work usually takes him through Louisville about once a week. He has more time some trips than others. Last weekend, because my kids were with their dad, he stayed for a whole day, since he couldn't deliver his cargo until Monday morning anyway. Yesterday he was only able to stay for about 6 hours. But we had a long lunch, did a little shopping, and a lot of talking! He gives great hugs. Not the greatest picture but what can you do with only a phone camera?

Daniel has a friend over today. They are supposed to be working on a project. From the sounds coming from Daniel's room, that is one wacky project! At least they're having fun.

I got a good evaluation from my principal on Friday. I was worried. You never know with her. But I think my assistant is mad at me. I don't know. I can't tell.

Only 2 days of school this week. Yay!

Rachael's play is coming along. They "open" a week from tomorrow. She is really excited. The cast of "Madeline's Christmas" has been asked to appear in the "Light Up Louisville" parade on the day after Thanksgiving. She's really excited. They get to appear in costume. The play will be perfroming at the Kentucky Center for the Arts, which is in downtown Louisville. Here's the synopsis: “In an old house in Paris that was covered with vines lived twelve little girls in two straight lines,” begins the story of Madeline and this holiday season will be unlike any other when Madeline’s Christmas takes the stage Saturday, December 1, 2 p.m.; Saturday, December 8, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.; Saturday, December 15, 2 p.m.; and Saturday, December 22, 2 p.m. While on their morning walk Miss Clavel and the girls come down with the flu; that is all except for the feisty Madeline! As they take to their bed, many wonder if they will be able to go home for Christmas. However, a knock at the door on Christmas eve greets a rug merchant with some very enchanted rugs for Madeline and the girls. Bring your family along on this magic carpet ride! Sponsored by Brown-Forman.

I am making vegetable beef soup for dinner. The house smells great!

Have a terrific Sunday, everyone!

It was the times our Mom made soups or stews that the house smelled so good all over.

We would come in after playing outdoors on a crisp autumn eve to the good kitchen fragrance filling our home.

That definitely shifted our appetites into high gear.

Will there be corn bread with your vegetable beast soup?

No cornbread, Dave....I made a loaf of whole grain bread.

The soup and the bread are gone.
I musta done good.

The aroma from the kitchen of a soup or stew, I related to that too.
I have a few signature dishes that I hope my grandchildren will always remember ... just like Grandpa used to make.
And that little cell phone camera takes a decent picture.
Your daughter's play sound fascinating. Thanks to grandchildren, I have seen the Madeline movie. I'll bet that's a grand theater there at the Kentucky Center For The Arts.
