Home Alone.

I am home alone today. The Louisville schools do not have school today - professional development day. However, if you have already done 18 hours of professional development, you do not have to go to work today. Yay! The Southern Indiana schools ARE in session today, which means all my children are at school, and I am home. Can't you just feel the quiet? (grin)

My only big plans for today are to get my hair trimmed and colored, and to get the oil changed in the car. (Hmmm...is that a weird combination?) I also plan to eat lunch wherever I want to, and catch up on blog reading.

I took Daniel (middle son) to Gamestop the other night. He had very sweetly asked if he could have a couple of used X-box games for his hand-me-down X-box (not to be confused with the very expensive X-box 360, which we don't have). While he was shopping, I was checking out the used DVDs. They were having a "buy two, get one free" sale and all the movies were no more than $6.99, so I just had to pick up a few! My selections were: Robots (we lost our previous copy and Aaron liked it), Meet the Fockers (Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand are hilarious!), Hitch ( I love Will Smith!), The Cable Guy (Jim Carrey!), Freedom Writers (best "teacher" movie ever), and Anacondas. I'm sure that last one seems strange for me, but it was one of the first "scary" movies I ever sat all the way through and I loved it. I love the suspense. It almost kills me when I know there is a snake just around the corner and someone is going to get eaten, but I have to keep watching!

Thanks for all your funny and kind comments about the Gary situation. I am still talking to the other guy, Tom, but he has show dogs and is booked into shows every weekend this month, so we might have a dinner date on a week night in a couple of weeks. I was also asked for my phone number by one of the guys painting our school.....turns out one of his co-workers was the guy who painted my classroom right before school started and he asked him to get my phone number! We'll see what comes of that!

With all the Gary crap, I forgot to mention that I took Aaron to see "The Game Plan" last weekend. Very funny movie, really cute. I recommend it. And "The Rock" is so easy on the eyes.......

I got an "e-vite" to Avitable's Halloween party on October 27. The only problem? He lives in Florida! I "mapquested" the directions - it takes 13 hours driving, 900-something miles. I want to go so badly. Anyone want to carpool with me and take a wild roadtrip?

One of my best-est blog buddies, Redneck Nerdboy, is back from a blog hiatus. Check him out - he's hilarious. And he looks damn good "half-naked" (yes, Nerdboy, I still have that picture!).

Well, gotta go cover up some (slightly) gray roots!
Have a great weekend,
J.

WHAT? You only have the one half of me naked? I'll have to send you the other half someday!

Thanks for the cool shoutout girl, I really appreciate it! It's sooo good to be back among friends... even if they're clear across the dang country from me.

Speaking of which, if I can get a good tractor with a hay wagon behind it, I'll take ya down to Florida for that party!

Well, y'all aren't the only ones with a regular ol' Xbox. I haven't upgraded to the 360 either.

That is an interesting assortment of movies - and a heck of a deal!!!

I am addicted to cheap movies! Just last weekend I bought The Last Kiss, Match Point and She's the Man (do not laugh, it is a riot) for $3.96 EACH at WalMart. Amazing.
All of the horror movies are marked down to $5 b/c of Halloween. It's dvd heaven for this chick, let me just say.

Nerdboy - Oh no, baby...I don't have half a picture of you naked....I have a picture of you half-naked! With an aerosol can, if I believe...(grin)

RWA - We have a Wii. There will be no 360.

Samantha - Welcome. Buying cheap DVDs is truly an addiction.

I liked "Freedom Writers" but I vote for "Stand and Deliver" with Edward James Olmos as best teacher movie. I don't feel strongly enough to fight over it, though. Unless you want to throw marshmellows at 10 paces.

Show dogs, eh? That could be cool.

We have the plain-ol XBox and a PlayStation2. Yeah, they're old, but as other people upgrade, we get plenty of games for a lot less!

I hope you enjoyed your day off - I took one myself on Thursday. It was MUCH needed.

Ah .. must have felt like paradise being home alone for the day.
I thought Meet The Fockers and Hitch were great movies worth owning. Have not seen the others.
I would love to be able to afford to go to Avitable's Halloween Party. Good time of year to visit Florida, too.

Hope you are having a great weekend and enjoyed your day off. Just don't get mixed up and change the oil in your hair and get the car trimmed and dyed..lol.

Dave - I would never throw marshmallows at you. (grin) "Stand and Deliver" is a grea movie, too.

Sayre - We picked up the used Xbox last Christmas when the elusive Wii could not be found (we didn't get one until February). And yes, he is loving the cheap games.

E.Craig - I wish I could afford to go, too. But I can't.

C.F. - Good point! Luckily I managed to get them straight.
