Sunday Stuff....

It's been a pretty good weekend.

Friday was a good, good day. My problem child at school, A., started on medication Friday. He was as quiet and good as a little lamb. It was the most peace we've had with him in there in a month. Aside from a few tears, he seemed to have no adverse side effects. (Again, let me throw out this disclaimer: I do not believe in medicating every child who has behavior issues. I do think medication was warranted for this child.) Friday was also payday, which is always good. And Friday late, after Gary got off work, we met and had time to talk for a couple of hours. It was most definitely worth the loss of sleep.

Saturday started with football. The 8th grade team won handily, 30-0. Since the opposing team had no offense to speak of, Daniel was not on the field much since there was little need for defense. He had a couple of good plays, but they were double-teaming him so he wasn't getting very far. The 7th grade team could not seem to get anything going, and lost 7-0. Daniel's best play of the game: stopping the running back from getting into the end zone and making it 14-0. He just knocked that guy right off the field. Aaron had a successful soccer game, accompanied by Grandpa.

Saturday evening was something new. Gary couldn't find a sitter for his 9 yr. old son, so the two of them joined Aaron and I at "The Fun House", a local Chuck E. Cheese imitation. We had a really good time, and the boys got along great. I have all kinds of good pictures that I took with my phone, but I still haven't figured out how to send the pictures from my phone to my computer! Lots of good "bonding" between Gary and I. Best moments: when he was talking about his dating history and referred to the day he "found" me, and when we were sitting eating pizza with the boys, and he spontaneously kissed my hand. Romantic that I am, I love that stuff! (grin)

Today was simple: church, lunch as a family at a local Mexican restaurant, and a trip to Target with Aaron which netted him a small game, and me a new pair of jeans. I can't wait to wear them tomorrow. I've also been spoiled by several good phone conversations with Gary. I'm looking forward to next weekend: both his son and mine will be visiting non-custodial parents Saturday onto Sunday.

Tomorrow, of course, is Monday. I hope this week will be easier with the changes in my new boy. It's amazing what knowing you have someone who cares in your life can do to your overall attitude.

Have a great week, all.

J - I feel the same way as you do about medicating children unnecessarily. Your student has quieted with medication, and I am sure that he feels much better in his head. What a blessing for everyone.

It is interesting how things work out sometimes. Having your son and Gary's son together at The Fun House was a good situation. You and Gary witnessed how the boys got along, and that had to feel good for both of you.

So Gary kissed your hand. He might ask for your hand in marriage. Watch out. Gary might have a hand fetish, and be interested only in your fingers. Then, of course, I might be mistaken.

You enjoyed your Saturday sports events. And Sunday you got new jeans. It is nice to go to work wearing something new.

I do agree that having a caring person in your life makes all the difference in one's outlook. Very uplifting.

Have a fantastic week, and a terrific next weekend.

Another busy weekend for you, as usual, J. And, I'm happy to hear that you and Gary are hitting it off well. I know what you mean about having someone who cares. For a few years after my last divorce I wondered about that very thing and wanted it to happen in the worst way.
Now, this may sound hokey, but one day I turned the problem over to God. I have no doubt to this day that I'll know if the next "right one" comes along. I'm betting, too, that he makes better choices than I do. ;-)

Sounds indeed like a good Friday, and a wonderful weekend! I am cracking up about Brother Dave's comment about the hand fetish...*snickers.

You can tell alot about a man seeing him around his children, and visa-versa for a man dating a woman. I am happy that your outing was so fun and I think the hand smooch was actually, very sweet.

Lastly, I confess...I am a Target nut. We love that store. LOL You just reminded me that I am due for a new pair of jeans too....who knows...maybe I will actually need them for a date one of these years! LOL

Have a FABULOUS Monday.

Dave - What has commended this man to me now is that apparently he thinks like YOU do: when I told him later how much I liked that gesture, his grinning reply was, "Oh, I was still hungry. I was going for the last of the pizza sauce on your fingers!" How could I go wrong in dating a man with the same offbeat sense of humor as Brother Dave?

E.Craig - Given the dating desert I seemed to be in, this has to be God's idea.

Silver Willow - You gotta love that Brother Dave! Only he would come up with such a remark. Well, I can think of one other, a guy who resembles him quite a bit....

And yes, you're right - you can tell a lot about a man when he's with his child. What's funny is that he told me later on the phone that he was watching me with Aaron! I am glad I didn't think of it ahead of time so I didn't change how I really am. He said he liked the way I let Aaron "eat like a boy" and the way I cared about what Aaron was trying to tell me, instead of just brushing him off in favor of Gary's company. So I guess I "done good".

I love Target, too. Too much, probably. (grin)

You are welcome to "echo" here anytime!

I think you see so much about a person's character when you see him/her with his/her child. That was great that you were able to do that.

Sounds like a crazy busy but great weekend.

Lisa - You are so right. And he is very sweet with his son.

Jay - Yes, things are going well. But you will always be #1 with me. The marriage proposal still stands. (wink)

RWA - It WAS a good weekend.

I am glad you had a nice time with Gary and the boys.

I feel the need once again to give you a pat on the back and a big WTG.

My son has severe ADHD and has had behaviour issues in school.

Every year is a new struggle, even now...and the thing that has made it the hardest has been having to deal with teachers that don't give a rats a** about my son's needs..

I am sure the new student has really given you a hard time...but I am proud of you for not giving up...and hanging in there with him...I wish my son had a teacher that was like that....

Your patience will have an affect on him in ways you might not even know now...

KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!!!

I wish all my students had a parent who supports them and actually give a rat's a** about what goes on at school, like your son does. So many of my students' parents won't answer their phones when I call, or come to school for a conference, or even sign the papers I send home!

YOU keep up the good work, too!!!
