A Musical Meme.....

I found this one over at Tense Teacher's awhile ago, and I'm just now getting around to doing it. It's been 25 years since I was 18, and I still remember the words to most of these songs!

The Rules: First, go to Music Outfitters (scroll down to the bottom of the page). Select the year you turned 18. Get all nostalgic over the songs of the year, and write about it.

I was 18 in 1982:

1. Physical, Olivia Newton-John - for Lisa and Birdman, who both have a thing for Olivia!

2. Eye Of The Tiger, Survivor

3. I Love Rock N' Roll, Joan Jett and The Blackhearts -I saw them at Senior Night at Kings Island. They rocked. I love tough women.

4. Ebony And Ivory, Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder

5. Centerfold, J. Geils Band- This is the coolest song!

6. Don't You Want Me, Baby, Human League

7. Jack And Diane, John Cougar- Arguably the coolest Hoosier on the planet!!!

8. Hurts So Good, John Cougar-A classic.

9. Abracadabra, Steve Miller Band

10. Hard To Say I'm Sorry, Chicago - Oh, I love Chicago. So mellow.

11. Tainted Love, Soft Cell

13. Harden My Heart, Quarterflash

14. Rosanna, Toto - "Meet you all the way....Roseanna!"

15. I Can't Go For That, Daryl Hall and John Oates

16. 867-5309 (Jenny), Tommy Tutone - "86753 -0h- ni-e-yinnne"

17. Key Largo, Bertie Higgins

18. You Should Hear How She Talks About You, Melissa Manchester

19. Waiting For A Girl Like You, Foreigner- Oh my gosh, classic Foreigner!!!

20. Don't Talk To Strangers, Rick Springfield - Dr. Noah Drake from All My Children!

21. The Sweetest Thing, Juice Newton
22. Always On My Mind, Willie Nelson -Ah, classic Willie!
23. Shake It Up, Cars
24. Let It Whip, Dazz Band

Notables from the rest of the Top 100:

52. Cool Night, Paul Davis .

Have a great weekend.

I must correct what I think is an error on your post. Rick Springfield was on General Hospital, wasn't he?

I don't remember him being on All My Children. Am I wrong?

Thanks for the reminiscing post! I looked up when I was 18 (1996)...Macarena was #1??? Oh Lord! And I found myself humming the #23 song at work the other day... I had no idea it was that old-- "Be My Lover" by La Bouche.

Oh this is great I must go do this myself. Joan Jett was my first concert ever at the State Fair. And OMG I sooo remember every senior class trip during the 80's was a trip to Kings Island!!! (I'm from Illinois)

These songs are much cooler than the top 100 from the year I was 18. I still love the Go-Go's.

I am working on this, and I'm going to try to have it up tomorrow (Monday). I am VERY disappointed in some of the songs that are ranked high on that list.

Awful, awful stuff.

Joan Jett is touring the UK later this year with Motorhead and Alice Cooper.

1982 was the year Bruce Springsteen released Nebaska. I love that record.
