A Very Long Day......

Well, yesterday was one of the longest days of my life, but now it's all finished. I was at school ALLLLLLL day, packing and doing my records. Luckily, my teaching assistant is a whiz at packing - she did most of it. I sat at my reading table with records and report cards and special ed reports spread all around me and got all that straightened out.

Then I had a little break - spent some time with a friend. Very relaxing. Just what the doctor ordered.

Then I went to the annual "End of the Year" get-together at Joe's "Older Than Dirt" bar. One of our teachers' parents owns it. Every year they give us free appetizers and we all drink and talk. It's fun. I ate an insane amount of bad-for-you food, and had one drink. But I was feeling a little woozy just from the long, long day, so I called it an evening pretty early.

So now I have a few days before summer school starts. Rachael has started drivers ed, Daniel is in football camp all this week, and Aaron has started swimming lessons. Joseph thinks he has found a job. Let's hope.

Now the REAL work begins: keeping 4 kids happy, busy, out of the kitchen, not too much time in front of the TV or the computer.......without going broke!

Sometimes hanging out with friends and eating bad-for-you food is just what a person needs.

Maybe set the kids up on a schedule. Go "boot camp" on them. Everyday, cleaning, gardening, laundry and whatever else you can find for them. Keep 'em busy. LOL

I have to agree with jay. Doing that every once in a while isn't that bad.

I'm sure you will find plenty of things for the kids to occupy their time without going broke.

Yeah, my list of ideas of things to do (which all were happily FREE things) was met each time with a groan from one of the other loving child. ...*sigh* I do love summer time! :)
