Things That Make Me Laugh.....

I was driving my daughter and her friend to a party last night and while they were talking in the back seat, I was borrowing my daughter's IPOD Nano. The only song she has on there that I like is "Bad Day" by Daniel Powter, and it annoys her greatly that at least once a week I ask to listen to it while we're driving somewhere. Anyway, she and her friend Megan were talking, and I had the song turned up so loud that I couldn't hear a word they were saying, which they started to take advantage of by saying some pretty silly things that they thought I couldn't hear! So finally when I caught on, I told them if they weren't nice to me, I would start singing along to the song, which was bound to sound terrible because I couldn't hear myself at all. Then I decided, just to be obnoxious, to start singing out loud. After just a few bars, much to my surprise, I heard howling from the back seat: "MOM! Will you please quit that? We're trying to talk!" It really made me giggle how funny it is to be obnoxious and annoy your teenagers. It's a parent's reward for all the hormones, drama, and moodiness. I chuckled all the way there.

Which got me thinking about things that make me laugh:

#1 - Annoying my teenagers.

#2 - My cat, Tiger. Waiting for me on the front porch when I come home. The look on her face, and her attitude is "Where the hell have you been? I'm hungry!" She looks so indignant at not having her needs catered to, it always make me laugh.

#3 - Playing Scrabble with Baron. He is a highly competitive player and takes his Scrabble VERY seriously. He's also a rat and beats me every time. But it's fun to play. Playing Scrabble with any one of my kids is also amusing. Aaron's "invented" spelling is always original.

#4 - My nephews. I almost understand the joy of grandparenting in my relationship with Will and Tyler. I love to see them, play with them, and send them back to Mama and Papa! They both crack me up. I love having a baby to play with again, without having another baby of my own.

#5 - Any Calvin and Hobbes cartoon. For obvious reasons.

What makes YOU laugh?
That's all for now. Have a good weekend.
J.

I will agree with two on your list - Calvin & Hobbes cartoons and my nephew.

I also find Pearls Before Swine cartoons very amusing.

So many things make me laugh. The way I see it, you've got to laugh because overwise you'd be crying and that's no fun.

There's nothing better than annoyed teenagers...

You know, until they start fighting back. ;)

I love annoying my kids, too. It may be evil, but it gives me greeat joy! I can't hit my kids, but I can mortify them nearly to death!
My puppy makes me smile, too. She is soo bad, but cute as heck.
Anyway, there are about a million and one things that make me laugh. If I didn't laugh, I'd cry!

When my daughter's in High School, I fully plan to only wear tee shirts that have pictures of her as a child playing "monster" with underwear on her head.

I can laugh at just about anything. It's so much better than crying. But here are a few things:
The best of Christopher Wolken SNL dvd. More cow bell
Meet the parents, dumb and dumber

Donald and Rosie fighting ( his hair)

Blogland

One thing I have yet to laugh, is a all the way to the bank. when does that happen?

When kids start the repeat game, and I win by finally repeating more than them. When mancub wrestles with me. When a wrestling mancub 'accidently' passes gas and runs out of the room squealing embarrassed laughter. A good episode of 'Who's line is it?' And lastly, the crap I do that makes me laugh at myself.

There are lots of things that make me laugh J!

I'm definitely going to take a book out of your page and tease my kids when they become teenagers to no end.

There will never be another cartoon as good as Calvin and Hobbes. End of story.

And, too bad you don't teach teenagers; it's even more fun to annoy other people's teenagers, because you don't have to take them home with you. :)

Tormenting the children is one of my greatest pleasures in life. And singing to them? In front of friends? Oh, that would take the cake! Right now I just threaten to wear my hair in pig tails or, you know, make Boy 1 acknowledge that I'm his mother and not some stranger, and that's embarrassing enough.

My kids, my husband and my best friend. I can just be myself with them and I find humor in the smallest of things.
