The Hunt for Nintendo Wii......

Okay. It's 3:20 AM. I have just had a bowl of cereal and I am brewing some coffee. I'm almost ready.

What am I doing up at this hour, eating and making coffee, you ask? I am about to get dressed and go camp out in front of our neighborhood Target, in hopes of getting my 12 yr. old son one of these: a Nintendo Wii. It's all he wants for Christmas, and honestly, I would do just about anything for him.

The truth is, I'm a little scared. I wish someone could go with me, or even talk to me on my phone for company. Wish me luck, I'm out the door. I'll let you know how it goes.

J.

UPDATE: It's 4:40 AM and I'm back home.
I pulled up in front of Target and there was already a line. There are 15 units for sale and there were 17 people. The first lady in line had been there since 7 last night. Most had been there since midnight. Ever optimistic (and let's face it, I was already up and awake), I headed to the Best Buy near the mall. Same story: 20 units, 20 people. The same at the Clarksville Target. And Toys-R-Us. And Circuit City. I stopped for a Sunday paper, and some Dunkin Donuts for the kids when they wake up, and headed back home.

But no Nintendo Wii. Not today.
I'm going back to bed.

Awww
I'm sorry. It isn't much consolation but they will probably be overstocked at all those places 3 weeks after Christmas.

If I see any in this area, I will let you know maybe we can get it shipped out there for you in time.

That sucks! Do they give out IOU's for those things? If I hear anything I'll let you know.

I hope your son appreciates your efforts. Good luck finding one. I think it's the same everywhere with them selling as fast as Nintendo can make them.

RWA - I know we will. I have one step behind them several times.

Birdman - Thanks. I have the whole world on the lookout.

Corky - No, they don't give rainchecks. Birdman is right. 3 weeks after Christmas they will be everywhere.

York- Yes, he does. He's a real sweetie. He has a good attitude about the whole thing, but obviously when you're 12 and it's the hot new game system, the sooner the better.

Hm.

Not certain what I think of that story! It's amazing to me that Nintendo didn't make thousands more units so that everyone could have one instead of splitting their entire production into maybe ten to twenty units per store.

I say get him an Etch a Sketch.

I heard that these are as popular as the PS3 this year! I know someone in blog world that was able to get one, but I have yet to see one.

Good luck though - and if worse comes to worse, put a picture of it in a box and buy it right after the holidays, lol.

I hope one day he understands what his mom did for him, whether or not he gets it for Christmas.

It will work out.

Thanks all. So far, still no luck. But my boy is ever-optimistic and appreciative. I have a few Christmas morning surprises in store for him and he will STILL get his game system when we lay hands on one. He has such a good heart, he understands.
