Shopping Can Be Fun!

I love to shop.

Just ask Steven or my parents or my kids. I even love to just browse. Amazon.com is my favorite place to go looking....and sometimes buying. But I have been trying, trying, trying to stick to a budget. I'm not saying I have 100% succeeded, but I have put some changes in place. I am writing a monthly budget. I am planning my meals for the week, using the weekly sales ads. And now, I have gotten turned on to coupons!

Did you know there are all these great websites that will point you to great coupons? That manufacturers have special on-line coupons? Here are a few of the sites I've discovered:

1. It's Hip 2 Save!

2. My Grocery Deals. com - this one isn't coupons. You put in your zip code, where you like to shop, and what you shop for, and it lists the weekly sales in your area.

3. The Coupon Clippers. - tons and tons of online coupons to "clip" and print.

4. Money Saving Mom. - specials, sales, online deals.

Finally, this site isn't a coupon site. It's "Buy-Her" - an online shopping blog by the Internet-famous Miss Britt. When she first debuted this site, one of the first products she reviewed was a vibrator. I thought, "Okay. Not for me." I wasn't so sure I was interested in reading more. But then I started checking back and the products she was writing about were really interesting. So far my favorites have been a label maker, a low-carb cookbook, and Clarks sandals. Except for a dubious post about "10 books we should read again", I have liked everything I have read from "Buy-Her". So much that I have subscribed via e-mail so I don't miss a post. Anyway, if you're interested in reading product reviews, which you may have gathered from the title of the site are mostly for women, check out Buy-Her.com.

That's all I have accumulated for now. I am always on the look-out for more. If you know of any good ones, let me know!

Have a good week,

J.

Thanks for the sites - I'm going to check them out. Every little bit helps, you know.

Our state is making some really deep cuts - the university I work for is planning to CLOSE an entire campus and eliminate several areas of study, the most shocking of which is oceanography! The Marine Lab has been there longer than I've been alive! We are all dumbfounded. And of course the paycut/furlough idea is making the rounds. I have no idea what's coming down the pike, but it's probably a good idea to start saving some dough NOW!!!

My darling wife, whom I love dearly, has a Amazon habit that is going to be hard to kick. I may need to do an intervention.

You have a great week, too. Go - teach things.
