10 on Tuesday

This week's "10 on Tuesday" is 10 things You Want to Do in 2009. Now THIS is a topic I can sink my teeth into. I have a lot of things I want to do in the next year....in the next 5 years. Here's my list for 2009:

1. Lose weight, preferably 50 pounds.

2. Become a good cook.

3. Start my National Board Certification.

4. Get a summer job.

5. Replace my couch.

6. Re-do my bedroom and my bathroom.

7. Travel with Steven.

8. Get the family on a healthy eating plan.

9. Learn to speak Spanish (so I can teach ESL students).

10. Continue to develop and enjoy my relationship with Steven: to love him as best I can!
What do YOU want to do in 2009?

Ah - been over this territory! Two posts actually - "I LOVE YOU MORE" and "BACK IN THE SADDLE AGAIN" are both resolution-type posts.

I like your list. It sounds do-able. DO you have any special plan for losing the 50 lbs? Back to WW? I'm just going to follow Doctor's orders (mostly) and get as much exercise as I can.

I have 2 questions

1) What does the ESL stand for?

2) Why aren't they learning english instead of you learning spanish?

I would like to learn Spanish too. Do you plan on taking classes or are you going to use something like Rosetta Stone?

Truckindog: ESL = English as a Second Language.

Looks like they're all doable, although a couple of 'em will make your purse much lighter.

I wonder if Rosetta Stone is as good as their commercials claim. That might be the best way to learn Spanish.

I know you can get your family and yourself on track with a proper diet .. you've done it before.

Now you know that becoming a good cook takes practice .. so I suggest that you invite us, your blogging buddies, over for dinner every night. ;-)

According to Consumer Reports, Rosetta Stone is a waste of money.

50#'s? Damn Choco-latte'.

Awee; to mee. (sigh)
No time for travel. I owe, I owe, so it's work I must sow!
HooterGirl can cook?
snicker, snicker.
Soo many thoughts + words + so little space.
HG does do a very tasty Baked Spaghetti. (thanks in part to my over zealous fill the pot attitude! One can never cook too much Angel Hair Pasta.)

Hmmn.
You didn't mention my disastrous foray into homemade gravy land.
Sorry. I followed Mavericks' lead from Top Gun; I crashed + burned on that sortie, but my bird was singing loud and proud!

Ahh. That's a tall list babe.
My Kalk-u-latur-is stammering, and stuttering right now.

Cook, Couch, Cook, Travel, Cook Spanglish, Cook, Board Cert's, Cook, Job, Cook, relationship, clean, cook, Steven, steven, steven.

Yes; Steven is going to cook, clean, fix the couch, get a J.O.B.,
get some kind of cert. do some cookin, and just simply
take care of ME!

Because I am simply; the Princess!

Your Honor, I rest my case.

My plan for 2009 is to make no resolution/s.

Good luck as you pursue your plans.

I didn't do so well with my resolutions last year. I wanted to have a good start at learning Japanese, and to look human even when school is hard (i.e. shave, comb my hair, dress more sharply instead of looking like the antisocial nerd buried deep inside me).

My resolutions this year are to be the best dad & husband I can with the time I have.

To keep my 4.0 in school intact.

And to still look human (and not too nerdy) but I am not making any promises during finals.

Happy New Year! Tell Steven Hi!

Sayre - I am going to go back to WW, although I'm not sure how soon. I'm just not feeling motivated yet, and I'm not going to go back until I'm really ready to get on it. As for my list, I think it's doable as well, but I certainly don't expect to do ALL of it. The title was "10 things you would LIKE to do in 2009", as my significant other failed to notice.

T-dog - ESL stands for English as a Second Language. And they ARE learning English. But when they come to school, while they are in the process of learning English, we have to be able to communicate with them in order to fully educate them. It isn't a 1st grader's fault that he has been raised in a Spanish-only household and is now, somehow, expected to learn to add and subtract and read and write in an English-only school. ESL teachers help bridge that learning gap until they completely transition to all English. It's just something I'm interested in.

Jay - I was thinking of taking a class offered through my school corporation to adults. But not this semester. Maybe this summer.

E.Craig - If I invited you, would you come?

Anonymous...aka, "Trukindude" - How dare you snicker at my cooking potential? I said i wanted to become a better cook. As for the rest......huh? I'm glad I'm your princess, but I don't think I'm THAT demanding. But you ARE welcome to worship me. (wink)

Brother Dave - Thank you for your good luck wishes.

Superwoman - Pay off ALL debts, lose weight, advance in your Pampered Chef career AND survive a new baby? If you do all that, then you ARE "Super"! (laugh) You can do it, I know you can!
After you pay off all your debts, can you help me with mine?

Sushi - Hey...you didn't look like "an antisocial nerd" in your Christmas picture! But if you went to class every day looking like that, you would have to fight the coeds off with a stick! (smile) Good luck with the 4.0! I will tell Steven hi!

Dave - When you say "travel less", you don't mean with regards to Indiana, do you? Of course not.
