New Years Day Thoughts.....

I'm Outta Bed
Wow, it is another new year. Hard to believe, isn't it? How was everyone's New Year's Eve? Mine was very low-key. Steven and I made it back to Southern Indiana in the early evening Sunday. We went to the movies to see "National Treasure - Book of Secrets" (excellent movie, by the way), played a little air hockey ( I beat him. Twice.), and then headed back to my house to crash. Monday we did some running around and the wonderful man fixed my toilet(how's that for love?), before he had to hit the road. He has a load to Texas that required him to drive yesterday and today in order to deliver on time on Wednesday.

Three of my kids (Rachael, Daniel, and Aaron) have been with their dad in Indianapolis since last Wednesday. They finally come home today (yay!). Joseph stayed here to work, under the supervision of my parents, and he went to a party last night. So I was here all by myself last night. But it wasn't so bad really. It was good to lay around, watch a movie ("Ocean's 13"), and eat junk food. The only bad part is the stomach ache I gave myself for all the bad food I've eaten in the last week. And I got to wish Steven a "Happy New Year" at midnight, on the phone.

So, this morning I slept late, talked to the kids on the phone, read a bunch of blogs and left comments, talked to Steven twice, and watched the Rose Parade. Now I'm debating whether I'm going to go put some clothes on and go get a newspaper, or just stay in my jammies for awhile longer.

Do you make New Year's Resolutions? I usually do. My first resolution is to get back on my acid reflux diet. So many "no no" foods have slipped back in, and I'm paying for it. I lost 25 pounds in 2007. I want to lose 25 more in 2008, preferably by July. My second resolution is to get Rachael to France in the spring, and Joseph to college in the fall. We're already on the way with both of those. My third resolution is to switch teaching positions. By the time school starts in the fall, I want to be in a regular classroom again. I think I need to, for my own stress level, and for my overall mental health. And my final resolution is to love Steven every single day of 2008 and let him know I'm behind him all the way. He has some big issues to tackle this year, and I am determined to help. And, let's be honest: for those of you who have read this blog for awhile, I haven't had much success in the relationship department in 2007. When 2007 started, I was with Mike. After that fell apart, there were at least a couple of boyfriends I was "head over heels" for. This relationship with Steven is different, it's deeper. But it's still new. And I'm still learning to cope with the distance factor. But I really want this to work. He is so much better for me than any other man I've known. I don't want to get too gushy, but he pays attention to all the aspects of me. Both good and bad. And he loves me anyway.

Anyway, I had all these ideas for a New Year's post and this is what I came up with.

Have a restful day, folks.
J.

Your New Year's Eve was about as quiet as mine.

Can't wait for the trip reports.

Good luck on the resolutions. I think you will definitely keep them.

Your resolutions sound good. I don't make them, but I'm making a goals list instead.

rwa did not do his bLog Talk Radio tonight.

I was hoping he would; however, I am not surprised that he did not.

Shirley is recuperating from Friday's surgery. So I prepared our New Year's Day dinner, and did all the clean-up afterwards.

Not complaining. I was happy to do it. Just kinda tired now.

Happy New Year!

Brother Dave - I tuned in tonight for RWA's show, too. But he wasn't there.....

You are a good husband! I am sure Shirley appreciates all you do.

XXOO,
J.

I tired, too. Maybe RWA will sober up by next Tuesday and we can all get together then.

BD, I'm glad Shirley is doing better. You did a good job taking care and cooking for her, too. If it had been me and Sweet Tea, she would have been served a peanut butter and banana sandwich. Or something from the Waffle House! I don't cook!!!

Time sure does fly, doesn't it? I hope you reach all your goals in '08.

Jay - I'm gonna try.

Lisa - I think these resolutions are pretty much the same as a goals list. Either way, I want to achieve them.

Coffeypot - I will look forward to sparring with you next week.

Corky - So far, so good. It's so good when he's here....it's really hard when he's gone.

RWA - Sweetie, your show was scheduled for New Year's DAY. It's okay. We're glad someone has a life!

Jeff - Say a prayer.

Well that was a very fine capsule of your New Year's celebration, J. I spent the eve home alone, and I'm not complaining.
