My boy loves me.....

My children all go to Catholic schools and this is Catholic Schools' Week. Each day the kids show their appreciation for all the different groups of people who make their education possible. One day it's the parish, one day it's the volunteers, one day it's the parents......you get the idea. So Tuesday was Parent Appreciation Day and my younger boys both came home with notes of appreciation. Aaron drew me a picture of a sun with the words "You light up my life". I love his pictures.

But the best part was the handwritten letter I got from my 13 yr. old, Daniel. Here it is, word for word:

Dear Mom,
It must be a hard job taking care of four children by yourself. Even harder than the job you go to everyday and as I right this letter you are working this job. I thank you for the shelter that you have given me and the delicious food you feed me day by day. I most of all thank you for your support in keeping my health, strength, and athletics strong.

Love,
Daniel

That makes me feel good. Yep, I got a little teary.
I love that silly boy.

It is always great to get letters and indicators of appreciation.

I know that had to make your day .. to say the least. Great kids!

They may not always show it or say it, but they know it. They see kids at school who have it a lot worse than they do and they know what you do for them. I bet your kids even talk about it among themselves when you are not around.

I said it on RWA's blog radio broadcast, and I will say it now. You are doing a great job under difficult conditions. Now enough of the touchy-feely bull shit. Go get me a beer.

I'm impressed. Especially with the 13 year old's letter to you. That must really have melted your heart. The picture with the sun was really sweet too.

somehow I missed that your kids all go to Catholic school. Me and my brother did as well. That must be a huge sacrifice for you financially.
