Day 26 - Rest in Peace

Our cat, Tiger, was hit by a car this weekend. She was mostly an outside cat, coming inside on only the coldest winter days and nights. We weren't home when it happened. Our across-the-street neighbor did us a great kindness and got her off the road and into a box before we came home, so Aaron wouldn't see her. She even put the box on her front porch, so Aaron wouldn't even see the cat in the box. When I got home, she called me over and explained. I got the box, said my goodbyes, and put Tiger in a bag and then in the garbage can. And no, I didn't let the kids "say goodbye". I told them about it later.

I feel kind of sad that I won't have her waiting for me on the front porch when I come home every day. It was weird to leave for work this morning and not fill up her food dish and water bowl. I actually brought them in today when I came home today. (sniff)
I'm going to miss her.
In other news, today was most definitely a Monday. Not only was it a Monday, but it was the Monday after a 5 DAY BREAK. Yeah, that's right. You guessed it. It was a little hectic, to be sure, but not as bad as it could have been. No kicks, bites, or bruises anyway.
AND....my stomach feels queasy. I hope I'm not getting sick.
How was YOUR Monday?
J.

My condolences over the death of Tiger. I hate to lose pets. I always get overly attached, it seems.

I'm glad you did not suffer any injuries today. It was pretty slow at my office, too. Nothing but conference calls that I generally sleep through unless I hear my name.

You tossed her in the garbage can? No funeral and burial? LOL

R.I.P. Tiger. She was a good cat.

I'm sorry about Tiger, J.

Coming back after a 5 day break is rough. Hope the rest of your week is better.

Sorry about Tiger. When our cat Ezra died (before I had kids) my wife and I were devastated. Funny how kids will put your priorities in the right place!

Today was definitely a Monday! I spent the day searching kids, breaking up fights, grilling kids about their booze, in lockdown, etc! What a day!

We have lost a couple cats accidentally over the years. It is sad when it happens. Now I do not even remember either cat's name. I must be the typical male.

I remember our Charlie. A partially-wild canine who had to eventually be put down.

All - Thanks guys. The kids took it pretty well, although I think our other cat, Fawn, is in morning. He keeps "looking" for Tiger. I know how he feels. I can't get out of the habit of going to the door in the morning to feed him. Ah well.

Yes, Tuesday WILL be better.

Sorry to hear about your cat.

I still have a holiday hangover too. I'm ready for Christmas. ;)

Poor Tiger. I hate it when I lose my pets. They really are a part of the family. Perhaps Fawn could use a new buddy?

My Monday was surprisingly easy. My son was happy to go back to school and I was happy to go back to work. Go figure.

Hopefully Tuesday will be much better.

I, too, am sorry about Tiger. I remember burying my dog at 2:00 am after a long fight with an illness. It is sad.

BTW - I KNOW it is your turn this time.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. It's so hard to lose a beloved pet. You'll be in my thoughts.

Pets become special family members. Sometimes better behaved than the kids. We sometimes take their welcome presence for granted, meeting their needs daily without hardly giving it a second thought.
Then when they are gone, habit reminds us that they once were. My condolences, J.
